Rest

Rest? you say? yes." Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you." You have to talk to your soul. Rest o my soul, rest. Its you who will calm your own soul. Its you who will tell yourself to stop fretting and trying to fix your life and get everything right. Its you. Tell your soul: Rest o my soul now.
"For all his days are sorrowful, and his work burdensome; even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also is vanity." The author of this quote said it rightly. Its in vain to take no rest in sorrow and burdens. Its vain. It does not profit you or me. Our heart needs to take rest. Noone will hand that to you. He will lead you by still waters and restore your soul but you have to let Him lead you. Be still, He says, and know that I am God. Be still and listen. "Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me." I quiet my own soul like a weaned child with his mother. This child knows that it is ok that he has to grow now to solid food and other ways of nourishment. He can  trust his mother's love. He reminds himself that his mother is still there, still taking care of him, still loving him. Thats the way we are to be with God, trusting His love, refusing to worry or be anxious. When there is a lot going on in life, we need to pull back and sit with Him and hear and be still and rest with Him.  “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” This is a big key. In the rest is the communing. In the communing with Him is the hearing His comfort, direction and thoughts about you. In being still with Him, is laying down your own ways, and rights, and submitting to Him as Lord. So why am I writing this to you today? because I am preaching to myself. Be still o my soul and rest for your Lord, the God of the Universe has you in mind and has plans to prosper you and give you a future and hope. Rest in Him today and let Him take your hand and lead you there.
